ROOTS OF INDIA

Waking up on a sunday is different … Mom being my alarm at 5:30 am…. She says,” Sheba get up and take a shower or we will be late to church” . Without wasting a minute I head straight for a shower ,with sleep still in my eyes ( Sam is still asleep) .
Mom was busy preparing Appam and Potato Stew for breakfast 😋
I was waiting for Sam to finish his bath ,so we could together wish dad ‘Happy Father’s Day ‘. Dad was super excited, he knew we had a plan for him … He went on asking both of us the previous day, what was the surprise …..but we both kept mum.
Well, you dont need a day like this to showcase your love … but… it’s a day to make him feel extra special.

It is rightly said …Dad , a son’s first Hero🦸, daughter’s first Love ❤️
Sam and I planned for a family lunch at The Roots Of India at Times Square , Marol. This restaurant is stylish , exuding a warm touch. Spacious and well lit. A false waterfall flowing down…..soothing to the eye. A bar right next to it and TV….. perfect to watch the India Vs Pakistan match. They have green plants everywhere making it very vibrant … aptly suiting the theme . Our table too had a small pot . The menu focuses on food across India , they also offer Oriental and global dishes too.

The Waterfall

We went for a Lunch Buffet and Fathers get 50% off … being Father’s Day. We got moctails which was sprite with a strawberry syrup and mint leaves. In soup they had Sea food soup and Veg Manchow soup . The seafood soup was like a rassa… very light with strong flavours . Manchow soup with crispy fried noodles … Delectable .

The Sea food Soup

The chef personally came to our table , informing us that all egg coated dishes would be made eggless for Sam. ( as I mentioned in my earlier post.. Sam is allergic to egg)
For the Starters they served four veg and four non – veg starters .

Veg manchurian balls . Very tasty …. perfect for our liking . Paneer Tikka.. looked very appetising but… it was disappointing . It was not soft and had a slight sour taste.

Aloo corn tikkis … nice and cheesy inside . Potatoes in Schezwan sauce was fairly good .

For all my non – veg lovers we loved the Schezwan Pepper Chicken …Lip smacking 😋
The Crispy Basa Fish.. deep fried , nice crunchy coating.

Mutton Seekh Kebab… personally did not enjoy this as much , as I am not a mutton fan. Chicken tikka with Green chutney was scrumptious .

They also had chaat options , we opted for Pani Puri, Dahi Batata Puri and Sev Puri.

Chaat

The mains Included dishes like Mutton Rogan Ghosh, Korean Chicken Fried Rice, Lucknowi Mutton Biryani, Goan Prawns curry, Veg stir fry in Hunan Sauce , Noodles , Steamed rice , Punjabi Dal . Food was flavourful and delicious .

For desserts they had Saffron Phirni, Gulab Jamun , Mini pastries , Vanilla and Coffee flavoured Ice – cream . On our request they gave us a pastry with a lit candle , specially for dad ☺️. A big Thank You for making it memorable.

Desserts
